Rue Royale is one of the main streets of the city of Orleans, remarkable for its trading arcades and symmetrical pavilions dating from the 18th century. Rue Royale connects Place du Martroi and the George V. La Percée de la rue was granted in March 1752 by Louis XV, on the condition that the street facades were uniform. Under the French Revolution, it is temporarily renamed rue de l'Equitality. Almost half of his constructions were destroyed by the bombing and fire in June 1940, before a restoration after the war. Today, the street is served by line A of the tram via the Royale-Châtelet station.
2. Pont George V
The George V Bridge is a road and tram bridge that crosses the Loire in Orléans, France. It is an arched masonry bridge spanning a distance of 325 m. Designed by Jean Hupeau, it was built between 1751 and 1760, at the request of Daniel-Charles Trudaine, administrator and civil engineer. It was renamed in honour of King George V at the beginning of the World War I out of respect of Britain's role.
