Previously, the service of both congregations had taken place alternately in the town hall after a church of the Reformed Church mentioned in 1572 had been destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. In 1869, the Protestant church was renovated and expanded.

The Protestant St. Michael's Church in Hilsbach, a district of the large district town of Sinsheim in the Rhein-Neckar district in northern Baden-Württemberg, dates back to a Gothic choir tower building of the 13th century. After the collapse in 1667, the tower and nave were rebuilt in 1685. In St. Michael's Church there are several historical epitaphs from the 15th and 16th centuries. The church was a simultaneous church from 1705 until the new construction of the Catholic St. Mary's Church in 1951.
