Nagara-san Onjo-ji , also known as just Onjo-ji, or Mii-dera (三井寺), is a Buddhist temple in Japan located at the foot of Mount Hiei, in the city of Ōtsu in Shiga Prefecture. It is a short distance from both Kyoto, and Lake Biwa, Japan's largest lake. The head temple of the Jimon sect of Tendai, it is a sister temple to Enryaku-ji, at the top of the mountain, and is one of the four largest temples in Japan. 11. Gichu-ji
Gichū-ji (義仲寺) is a Tendai Buddhist temple in the Baba neighborhood of the city of Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. Its honzon is a statue of Shō-Kannon Bosatsu. It contains the grave of the late Heian period warlord Kiso Yoshinaka and the Edo period poet Matsuo Basho. Its precincts were designated a National Historic Site in 1967.
12. 近江国庁跡
The Ōmi Provincial Capital ruins is an archaeological site with the ruins of a Nara to Heian period government administrative complex located in what is now the Ōe neighborhood of the city of Ōtsu, Shiga prefecture in the Kansai region of Japan. Identified as the ruins of the kokufu of Ōmi Province, the site has protected as a National Historic Site from 1973.
