The Breda Beguinage is a complex surrounded by walls consisting of houses and a small church in the center of the Dutch city of Breda. The 29 cottages, divided into two courtyards, are grouped around a herb garden. There is also a statue of two beguines in conversation. It is located close to the Park Valkenberg.
2. Spanjaardsgat
The Spanjaardsgat is a water gate that lies between the Garnet Tower and the Pigeon Tower of Breda Castle in the center of Breda. The water gate can normally only be seen from the outside, but on guided tours of the castle grounds it can also be seen from the inside. The Spanjaardsgat is located near the Port of Breda.
3. Park Valkenberg
Park Valkenberg is located in the city center of the Dutch city of Breda in the Valkenberg district. It is located on the transit route to Breda Central Station, behind Breda Castle. The park used to be the garden of the castle.
4. Maczek Memorial Breda;Generaal Maczek Museum
The General Maczek Museum was a museum in the Dutch city of Breda, North Brabant. Until 2015, it was located in building -R- on the Trip van Zoudtlandt barracks. On 31 March 2020, the museum returned to the Maczek Memorial Breda on the Ettensebaan in Breda. The museum provided information about the life of, among others, the Polish general Maczek in the Second World War. Films were also shown and various publications were available.
5. Grote Kerk
The Grote Kerk or Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk is the most important monument and a landmark of Breda. The church is built in the Brabantine Gothic style. The tower of the church is 97 meters tall. The plan is in the shape of a Latin Cross.
6. Ruiterstandbeeld Stadhouder Willem III
The Monument of King-Stadholder William III is an equestrian statue on the Kasteelplein in the city center of Breda. It is within walking distance of Breda Castle and the Beguinage. The statue was unveiled on 8 October 1921 and was designed by Toon Dupuis.
7. Watertoren Belcrum
The Water Tower on the Speelhuislaan in the Belcrum district and next to the new Havenkwartier district in the Breda Noord district in Breda is the second water tower in the city. This water tower was built in 1934 and inaugurated in 1935. As early as 1932, the city council of Breda considered a second tower, because the first tower on the Wilhelminasingel did not have enough capacity for the growing city.
8. Natuurpoort Landgoed Wolfslaar
A Tourist Transfer Point (TOP) is a 'natural junction', where various cycling, sailing, skating and walking routes start. Each TOP is recognizable by its landmark, a kind of obelisk is used in the east of the country, a blade of grass in the Green Heart and a remarkably large information column in the Gooi & Vecht region and the Rivierenland region. At TOPs there are often also some seats, a bicycle rack and a signpost. TOPs in the Gooi & Vecht region are also always equipped with bicycle rental, catering, (free) toilets, an ANWB Bicycle Service Box and a VVV information point.
9. Wilhelminatoren
The water tower on the Wilhelminasingel near the Wilhelminapark in Breda Centre in Breda was designed by architect Jan Schotel in neo-Renaissance style and was built in 1893-1894. The water tower has a height of 42.00 meters and has one water reservoir of 500 m3.
10. Sint-Laurentiuskerk
Sint-Laurentiuskerk is a Roman Catholic church at Ginnekenweg 333 in the Ginneken district in the south of Breda. The church belongs to the Parish of the Holy Family. It is a cruciform church in neo-Gothic style and was designed by the architects Joseph Cuypers and Jan Stuyt. The church was built in 1902 and has been a national monument since 1978. The length is 50.6 meters, the width 30.3 meters. The crossing tower is 60.6 meters high and has an octagonal spire.
11. Heilig Hartkerk
Heilig Hart van Jezuskerk is a church on the Baronielaan near the city center in Breda. It originally belonged to Teteringen. The parish was founded on November 17, 1899 and was aimed at the faithful of Princenhage, Ginneken and Teteringen.
12. Huis van Brecht
The Huis van Brecht is a building in the center of Breda on the grounds of Breda Castle. It is built of stone and dates from the second half of the fourteenth century. Gouvaert van Brecht bought it in 1530 and enlarged the house with a gallery. After the ruse with the peat ship of Breda, the Spanish family fled to Liège and became the home of the Breda city council.
13. Spinolaschans
The Spinolaschans or Grote Schans is a redoubt located between Terheijden and Breda on the river Mark that was used by the State troops during the Siege of Breda by Frederik Hendrik in 1637. A predecessor of this redoubt was built by armies of Ambrogio Spinola during the siege of 1624-1625, from which the redoubt takes its name. This predecessor was part of the Breda circumvallation line. The redoubt was used as a defensive structure until 1952 and was demilitarized between 1952 and 1962.
14. Johanneskerk
The Johanneskerk is a Protestant church building from 1819 on the Dreef in Princenhage, now a district of Breda, in the Dutch province of North Brabant. This church was designed in Neoclassical style by Waterstaat engineer Nicolaas Plomp.
