Sightseeing Tours in Târgu Mureș1. Bernády György
György Bernády was the mayor of Târgu Mureș (Marosvásárhely) twice, 1900–1912 and 1926–1929. In this period the City Hall and the Cultural Palace in Târgu Mureș on the Roses Square were both built. His name is associated with public illumination and sewerage in the city. In this period many schools, libraries and art galleries were also built.
2. Biserica Bob, Sf. Nicolae
The Bob Church in Târgu Mureș, dedicated to the "Resurrection of the Lord", also known as the Stone Church, is the first united Romanian church (Greek-Catholic) built in Târgu Mureș. The edifice is located on the current Mitropolit Șaguna Street at no. 9, where it forms an ensemble with the former Greek-Catholic confessional school, the first Romanian school in the city. Archpriest Gheorghe Maior, father of the scholar Petru Maior, worked here as a priest and teacher.
3. Székely martyrs' memorial
The monument to the Szekler martyrs of Târgu Mureş is the city's first inaugurated – and also the oldest – public artwork. A six-meter-high obelisk made of granite, erected in 1875 as a public donation in the Post Office, commemorating the three Transylvanian leaders of the anti-Habsburg Acorn conspiracy executed at this place. Although it was vandalized several times after the Romanian takeover, it still stands today and commemorations and ceremonies are held here every year.
4. Lupoaica
The Statue of the She-Wolf or the Monument of Latinity is located in the center of Târgu Mureș, on the Town Hall Street, near the Rose Square. The Capitoline Wolf is a monument of Latinity located in Rome, Italy. To pay homage to the Latin origin of the Romanian people, between 1906 and 1926 the Italian state gave Romania 4 copies of the famous Lupa Capitolina in Rome. The statue located in Târgu Mureș is a copy of the statue of the She-Wolf in Bucharest, unveiled on May 23, 1924.
5. Biserica Reformată Mică
The small church is a one -nave, late Baroque Reformed church in downtown Gecse Dániel Street (Strada ștefan Cel Mare). It has its name from a slightly smaller size than the castle church, but it still has seven hundred seats. Between 1815 and 1829 it was built on a plot with a Reformed wooden church at the beginning of the 18th century. It was consecrated in 1830, and its appearance today was won in the late 1920s.
6. Târgu Mureș Zoological Garden
The Târgu Mureș Zoo is located in the eastern part of the city, on the Cornesti Plateau, on Verii Street no. 57, at an altitude of 488 m above sea level and at 197 m above the level of the center of Târgu Mureș. It is the largest zoo in Romania.
7. Pseudosphaera
The statue of Pseudosphaera stands on Bolyai Square in Târgu Mureş. It commemorates János Bolyai, a world-famous Hungarian mathematician who spent a significant part of his life in Târgu Mureş. The first mathematical monument of Transylvania.
