On 26 December 2004, at 07:58:53 local time (UTC+7), a major earthquake with a magnitude of 9.2–9.3 Mw struck with an epicentre off the west coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia. The undersea megathrust earthquake, known by the scientific community as the Sumatra–Andaman earthquake, was caused by a rupture along the fault between the Burma Plate and the Indian Plate, and reached a Mercalli intensity up to IX in some areas.

Rudbeckianska gymnasiet is an upper secondary school in Västerås, Sweden, located next to the city library and the cathedral. The school consists of Hall School, Old Main Building, Old Annex, New Annex, Old Gymnasium and New Gymnasium. The number of students in 2020 was about 1,300, which makes the upper secondary school Västerås' largest.

Djäkneberget is a park area just west of Västerås city centre. The area is about 500 meters long and 250 meters wide. The park is located on a hill with views of the Cathedral, the City Hall, Skrapan and part of Lake Mälaren. Adjacent to the park is Djäknebergsskolan, an elementary school that was inaugurated in 1894 and which today houses Västerås Folk High School and Västerås Art School.

It is located in Västerås, in an old hangar at Västerås Airport in Sweden, located 100 km west of the capital city, but inside Västerås city limits. Vallby Open-Air Museum is an open-air museum in Västerås, Sweden. The museum is located at Skerikesvägen 2 near the E18 motorway about two kilometres north of the centre of Västerås. The museum began to be built in 1921 and is today run by the city of Västerås.

The church building is a five-tiered cathedral, with copper-covered roof as well as a west tower with side extensions and an obelisk-shaped, copper-clad spire.
