Its altarpieces and the chapel of Jesus Nazareno are some of the best examples of New Spanish Baroque art. It has canvases by the best painters of New Spain and the nineteenth century such as Antonio de Santander, Diego Berruecos, Marimón, Pascual Pérez, Miguel Jerónimo Zendejas, Agustín Arrieta and Cayetano Padilla, as well as numerous sculptures attributed to the workshop of the Cora family. It is located in the populous neighborhood of San José, north of the historic center of the city of Puebla.
