Sight 3: Pla de Santa Bàrbara
The Pla de Santa Bárbara is a hill in the heart of the town of Montblanc, in fact a small plateau that rises about twenty meters from the surrounding land. This enclave was occupied by an Iberian settlement of the Cossetani tribe. The various archaeological excavations carried out in the twentieth century of the Iberian village documented a radius-shaped structure, with small rectangular houses attached to each other and silos that were used to store grain. The houses had a stone base and the elevation of adobe and plant elements. The dwellings were small, rectangular and with a fireplace. Along the wall, a construction bench served as a seat.
Sight 4: Santa Maria
Santa Maria de Montblanc or Santa Maria la Major is a fourteenth-century Gothic church in the municipality of Montblanc, with the main portal considered to be from the Renaissance. It is located on top of a promontory overlooking the old town of Montblanc. It is also known as The Cathedral of the Mountain. It is a work declared a cultural asset of national interest.
Sight 5: Museu-Arxiu de Montblanc
The Casal dels Josa or Cal Portuguès is a Gothic building in Montblanc dating from the thirteenth century and which today houses the headquarters of the Museum-Archive of Montblanc and the region, founded in 1958. The house is located at Carrer Josa, 6, within the walled enclosure of Montblanc and sheltered from the church of Santa Maria.
Sight 6: Església de Santa Tecla
The Church of Santa Tecla is a church in the municipality of Montblanc included in the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia. Located in Carrer de Baix, it is a small church with a very simple structure: a stone portal with the coat of arms and the Tau and a circular window. There is a semicircular door, possibly a work from the seventeenth century.
Sight 7: Sant Miquel
Sant Miquel de Montblanc is a church in the town of Montblanc. It served as a parish before and during the construction of the archpriest of Santa Maria. Catalan Courts were held there in 1307, 1333 and 1370 and it is a building protected as a cultural asset of local interest.
Sight 8: Portal de Sant Jordi
The walled enclosure of Montblanc is made up of the set of towers, portals and walls that surround the historic centre of the town of Montblanc, in the Catalan region of Conca de Barberà. It is declared a cultural asset of national interest: the fortified enclosure in the category of historical monument and the intramural complex as a historical complex.
Sight 9: Sant Francesc de Montblanc
The convent of Sant Francesc de Montblanc, could have been founded at the end of the third decade of the s. XIII, perhaps where it is now or near and in a simple temporary building. In any case, you cannot speak of extramurals by the fact that then there were still the walls. Of the old convent is only the church.
