Zhishan Rock is an independent sandstone hill in Shijiao, Shilin District, Taipei City, located on the northern edge of the Taipei Basin, which is a one-sided mountain with steep terrain in the north and gentle south, with an elevation of about 51.5 meters and an area of about 10 hectares. In the 18th century, a large number of immigrants from Zhangzhou, Fujian Province moved to the nearby hill of Bazhilan (now Shilin District) in Taipei, and the name of Zhishan Rock was originally taken from the nearby Zhilan Street, and was called "Zhilan Mountain", which was later renamed "Zhishan Rock" because the scenery of the hill is very similar to Zhishan Mountain in Zhangzhou. Today, the vicinity is also referred to by Zhishan Rock instead of the original place name Shek Kok, and there is a sub-district of Zhishan Rock.
